“The Sweetness of Miscellany” is a phrase William Kennedy used when describing the hero of his wonderful novel Billy Phelan’s Greatest Game. I admired that novel greatly when I first read it, and still admire it each time I re-read it, something I have done at least six or seven times. But the paragraph where he describes Billy’s nature as a generalist is particularly memorable to me, probably  because when I first read it I felt like it described me perfectly. Only the art I pursued was neither pocket billiards nor bowling. If you haven’t read any of Kennedy’s novels, you are in for a treat.

Obviously I thought the phrase about miscellany was appropriate to my curatorial approach here in the web. Either blogging or tweeting, or commenting on other blogs, I like to assemble things that interest me, and that I think will interest other people with eclectic interests that overlap mine. Hopefully we will see something new and worthy outside of the intersections.
